SATCELL TECHNOLOGY
Globecomm Systems Inc. (GSI) has developed a unique network
architecture based on the concepts of a Software based Mobile Switching Center
(softswitch), and a patent-pending satellite IP network that dramatically
improves the process of serving isolated user groups or “Telecom Islands.” This
architecture creates an IP cloud in the satellite footprint, which is the
internal communication bus for the distributed elements of GSM and CDMA
networks. This same cloud can provide traffic trunks to support long-distance
service as well. This technology allows least cost routing of calls at the
local level. Local calls stay local. No satellite double hops, and no satellite
links when terrestrial is available at a lower cost.
SATCELL Services
GSI has used this unique architecture, its carrier class teleport in
Hauppauge, New York, and its international voice/data gateway to create a
Managed Network service offering. Satcell GSM or CDMA Services include the

SATCELL (Mobile Switching Services)
Satcell GSM or CDMA allows new operators to leverage off GSI’s hosted
switching center to achieve economies of scale and speed of implementation. No
investment, time or money is required for the core network infrastructure.
Satcell GSM or CDMA allows existing operators’ to serve new Telecom Islands or
reduce the costs to serve existing Telecom Islands. It can also be used to test
new markets. No back haul is required. A single Satcell GSM or CDMA
installation is all that is needed.
SatCell allows the provision of big city services to the Telecom
Islands that can be implemented in days.
Subscriber Based Services
Call Processing:
Call processing is provided for your subscribers for a monthly fee.
Our switch is partitioned creating independent virtual network operators.
Operators have access to their own subscribers, but are segregated from other
Satcell networks
